I'm in the Army. I am married with four children (20/17/13/8 years old). Trying to return to previous running form after having microfracture knee surgery in July 2008.

AM - 2 miles on the BYU indoor track with push-ups, sit-ups and strength drills as well and then joined Sasha and Jeff for 10 more miles. Overall averae pace was about 7:15 for the 12 miles. Not bad for the ice and snow on the trail. I have been doing some strength drills and hip streches three days a week to see if it helps my hip and stride issues. Today was the fourth time doing these and I am starting to notice that I feel like I am running taller and have better overall knee lift and push-off. I mentioned this to Sasha and he said it did not look like my right leg was dragging behind as much either so he suggested we do the stride length measurement in the snow again as well. So we measured and the stride was much closer. It went from a almost three inch difference to only a 1/2 to one inch stride length difference. So the extra 15-20 minutes three days a week may be paying off. One can at least hope so but only time will tell. The knee is still nagging a bit so I guess I will stick to 60-70 miles this week as well. Looking forward to getting miles up but I want to make sure the knee is pain free first.
